The New and Improved Student Government!
Every 4 years the nation votes for a new leader to take on the the responsibilities of America. However, for Lodi High School, it a different story. Every year our student government holds an election in which speeches are prepared and presented by or for every candidate running for a position. This year on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, many candidates competed against each other to win their desired position. From periods one through four, all grade levels were being persuaded by the promising speeches given by each candidate. Truly, it had been a tough race between the secretary, treasurer and, of course, the president positions. The entire school voted this Tuesday, Sept. 18; the results were announced by Mr. D’amico at the end of the day. Drumroll, please…
And the winners are:
- President: Carlos Andres Balvin
- Vice-President: Hardeep Kaur
- Secretary: Michelle Guerra
- Treasurer: Karendeep Kaur
Here is what the candidates had to say about the upcoming school year:
Carlos hopes to bring the International Festival schoolwide. He wants music, dancing, and, of course, food!
Hardeep hopes that the Student Government can host the Spring Fling dance, like they did last year.
Michelle hopes to have an amazing year with all the new activities that she will help organize.
Karen hopes to raise money and fund the new events that are being planned!
With Homecoming quickly approaching on Oct. 13, 2018, we look forward to seeing the Student Government in action. Congratulations to all of the winners!
