Wrestling

The Lodi Varsity Wrestling team is now 8-10 heading into their final week of the regular season. Although their record is not the highest, athletes continue to improve and rise to the occasion. Senior, Steven Villa and Junior, Chris Caban won both of their matches last week. Senior, Mike Dios and Sophomore, Daniel Adams have also both performed well on the mat although they did not win. Freshman, Romario Richards placed first at the Freshman County Tournament on Saturday Feb. 6. As the team heads into the post season, they ask to come support them at their last regular season match this Saturday at LHS at 10 a.m.!

Competition Cheer

The cheering team took on the annual Wood-Ridge cheer competition on Sunday, Feb. 7. The girls opened their performance with spirit and tumbling. The girls then hit their stunts and followed with their energetic jumps. They then went into their cheer in which they cheered their slogan “Pride, dedication, LODI NATION.” Followed by the cheer, the girls went into their tumbling pass which was then followed by their pyramid. The girls closed their performance with a sassy, lively dance. The girls placed second at this competition and are looking to take home first at their next two competition this weekend!

Boys Basketball

The boy’s basketball team continued its mission to a transformative season this week. The Rams hosted their rivals, Garfield, on Feb. 2 and, again, showed their dominance on the court. Leading up to the big game, the boys trained hard day in and day out in preparation. Sophomore, Carlos Pepin and senior, Melvin Florian, led the boys with a combined 40 points to really light up the court with momentum. Captain Ahmad Odeh described the game stating, “Garfield was a matchup we knew we would win and we played as a team to get it done.” The team put on an excellent performance and showed everyone what team basketball is truly about. They kept the ball in motion and looked for the open man. Coach Siconolfi mentioned that, “It’s always great to get a win in basketball, but to beat your rivals twice in the same season is phenomenal.” If the Lodi Rams can replicate this outstanding performance in states, there is no telling how far they can go.
