Voter ID Laws: When the Law Goes Bad!
In the state of New Jersey it is very easy to vote. You just show up to the booth put down your signature and address and then you are allowed to vote. However, in other states it’s not that easy. In places like Alabama, Kansas, Wisconsin, and Texas voting laws are much stricter. These states have laws that force potential voters to show photo ID such as a driver’s or firearm license to vote. Many believe that these laws are racist and oppressive because they disproportionately affect minority groups. Interestingly, the AP Language and Composition class has been learning about disparity between economic classes and was assigned to research the topic of voter ID laws.
