A Single's Guide to Surviving Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day, the one day a year when couples celebrate their love, is right around the corner. It is also known as single’s awareness day…but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing! If Valentine’s Day is a day of love, then what better way to spend it than with the person you love the most? YOU! There are plenty of things you can do to distract yourself from the festivities of Valentine’s Day. Here are some suggestions on how to spend Valentine’s Day if you are single:

Eat some chocolate

Buy yourself your favorite chocolate! Not only because it tastes delicious, but chocolate releases chemicals in your brain that makes you feel good. So if you’re feeling glum about being single, chocolate will cheer you up!

Have fun with friends

Find some single friends and spend Valentine’s Day together. You don’t have to be all by yourself on this day when you have friends who would love to hang out with you. Whether it be watching movies, eating, or just chilling, enjoy their company!

Splurge on yourself

Go ahead– buy yourself something special! Maybe a new pair of shoes or some jewelry you’ve been dying to get. Get a massage or have a spa day to relax yourself. Get yourself a gift because you deserve it.

Take a risk

Doing something exciting can give you the same rush as being in love; so do something you’ve never done before! Try skydiving or bungee jumping…or something less terrifying like unicycling or horseback riding. Whatever it may be, get out there and do something daring!

Volunteer

You can volunteer at a nursing home, animal shelter, or a soup kitchen. Spread the love by helping out others!

But don’t forget… it is ONLY one day! You can get through it! Seriously, there’s nothing wrong with being single and spending time with the person you love the most. Happy Valentine’s Day to all the singles!
