Potatoes in a Bucket!
What’s green and does photosynthesis? You guessed it, plants. Here, at LHS, we have our very own Botany class during which students study plants. During the course of the year, numerous topics were covered in this class from plant life cycles and tree rings to leaf shapes. In order to fully grasp this feeling of what botany is, Ms. Press and her classes planted red potatoes in buckets starting on Jan. 5. The potatoes grew massive stems and leaves for three months. On Friday, April 6, the buckets were emptied and inside the classes found some mini potatoes. Students had a blast and truly understood what it took to grow potatoes.
