Powderpuff 2023 – Class of ’24 vs. Class of ’25

This year, so far, has been very different for LHS. It started with an influx of new teachers and a new principal, and to top it all off, one of our most anticipated events, Powderpuff, got postponed twice!!! To say the least, this year has been a roller coaster for us, but we’re pushing through.

While powderpuff was originally scheduled for October 20th, the day was filled with rain, so it was pushed back. Then, the day it was pushed back, it rained, and it got pushed back again, until finally, we were able to have it on November 3rd.

The game kicked off with lots of action and lots of hilarious commentary from Coach Tirico. The junior football coaches consisted of Shane Bell, Daniel Qasemi, Evan Kuhl, Joseph Bazemore, and Yandel Hernandez. While the juniors may not have scored a touchdown, their determination showed through their incredible defensive line as they tried their hardest not to let the seniors score. The seniors made their coaches, Kendrick Gyamfi, Andrew Avalos, Alquan Hines, Jabari Whitaker, Jermaine Jiles, and Robert Cardone, proud as they were able to push through and score a touchdown, winning the game.

While the enthusiasm wasn’t as high as it probably would’ve been, considering it was pushed back twice, the crowds were still loud and proud for the junior vs. senior halftime show. With junior cheer coaches Liliana Proto, Domenica Lazo, Julissa Nelson, Ezra Sanchez, and Ana Duque, the juniors put their all into the halftime show, and we can’t wait to see what they do next year. The seniors went all out, winning the halftime competition with senior cheer coaches Rihanna Rosario and Eyliana Estevez. We absolutely can’t wait to see how next year’s powderpuff will turn out.
