A Day in a Life of a Track Player
This Track & Field season has been different than others. With Covid-19 still affecting our sport teams, the Rampage wanted to shed light on what Lodi’s team is really about. The transition from the winter season to the spring was unique as many winter sports were moved to the spring; this meant a lot of the players had overlapping sports. Even though this presented some obstacles, with teams being much smaller in size this season, it was a good way for the coaches to push their athletes to work harder and be able to help them even more.
The Track Team has already started their season with their first dual meet against Easter Christian (EC) and Manchester. In the overall meet, Lodi did place top three in most of the events. In the Track/Jumping Section, the team really showed out with overall times/distances throughout the whole meet. Starting off with the 100 meter dash, Jahmir Jennings and Jorden Enigam tied second against both teams with an ending time of 12.4 seconds. Shaniya Richberg and Amanda Barrett ended placing second and third against Manchester with respective end times of 14.5 s and 14.7 s. In the 200 meter dash, Enigam ended up placing first against both teams with an outstanding time of 25.6 s. In the 110 meter hurdles, Jennings placed first against both teams with an outstanding time of 18.7 s. In the 100 meter hurdles, Barrett placed first against Manchester and third against EC with the time of 21.4 s. While there was no girls running in the 300 meter hurdles, the Lodi Team had Damien Lugo who placed third against EC. Lugo and Lindell Mejia ended up placing top three against Manchester with overall times of 55.3 s and 56.3 s.
At the ending of the meet, Denny Ramirez and Lindell placed top three against both teams in the 400 meter dash with ending times of 63 s and 67 s. While in the 3200 meter dash, Ramirez placed second against Manchester with an untimed score.
