Balance Having Fun and Keeping Up With Work
If you want to get into college, whether it is a pristine or public, getting involved in clubs will help you in the long run. Joining these various activities will give you an insight into how to fill up your transcripts. DON’T burn yourself out by overflowing your schedule with all sorts of classes or extracurricular activities. Make sure to still have fun, spend time with friends, whilst maintaining your grades as well. In most cases, there is less stress on freshmen academically, so building a good foundation will help you prepare for the upcoming years.
Cherish the Memories You Make, Even the Bad Ones
Always enjoy the moment, even the little ones. 4 years might seem like a long time, it really isn’t. One moment you can be laughing with your friends in Algebra 1 and the next you’re at graduation practice picking out your cap and gown. Time flies really fast, so make the most out of everything, whether it be making those TikTok transitions, making those scrapbook pages, go and hang out with those people you have been dying to be friends with, but most importantly, try new things for YOU. Don’t do things because everyone else does them, do it because you are passionate about it, who knows, you could learn something new about yourself!
Drama is inevitable, especially when you are surrounded by people your age, going through different experiences all at once. It helps some people get up in the morning, so try to keep your friends close and your enemies at a good distance. If you are having a hard time, it gets better. In a day, week, or months you will look back and be proud of yourself and what you overcame. There is always light at the end of a dark tunnel.
DON’T Procrastinate
Don’t make the same mistakes that your friends are making. Get those assignments done, study for that quiz, do the dishes, and do it all ON time. My advice would be to collect your thoughts on a whiteboard if you are missing a lot of assignments. Bunching your thoughts all together will make you feel a lot more balanced once you see it all in front of you. Do at least two missing assignments per day, but put the current ones first. Don’t have high expectations, have ones that you can achieve, and take your time.
You MATTER
If no one has told you this yet, you matter too. If you need a day off from school, take it, if you really want that slice of cake, eat it. Social media is all a facade. Don’t ever compare yourself to people online, since most of the time everything is constructed to let you see the perfect side of their lives. You ARE smart enough, you ARE attractive enough, and you MATTER, so don’t give up on what you want to pursue in your life, you are enough.
