As the holiday season is approaching, movies are a great way to start getting yourself into the holiday spirit. No matter what age you may be, holidays spark enjoyment and bring happiness to family and friends. With that being said, 21 years ago a fan favorite Christmas movie, Elf, was released. This comedy/fantasy brings out the inner child in almost every person who watches this movie. The main character, Buddy, played by Will Ferrell spreads a lesson which is to not take life too seriously and do the things you love no matter your age. 

Buddy is raised as an elf at the North Pole and as he gets older, he becomes an oversize elf. As he is curious to meet his father who lives in New York, Santa warns him of some of the realities of city life. Despite what Santa says, Buddy still goes to New York in search of his father. While he is roaming the streets, it catches people off guard as they are not used to seeing a grown man dressed up as an elf and act the way he does. Buddy does in fact meet his father, Bob Newhart, who makes him take a DNA test to see if Buddy is actually his son.

To Bob’s surprise, the DNA test came back and Buddy is in fact his son!Overtime, the two create a bond but some people have a hard time understanding Buddy’s personality. No matter what the people in the movie think, the audience who watches this movie truly loves how he acts. Buddy tries to be accepted by people, but is funny while doing it. Overall, Elf  is a popular Christmas movie that brings joy to many families as the holiday season approaches.
