Hoops for Heart
March 3, 2016
Every year, Lodi High School participates in the national Hoops For Heart fundraiser to raise money for the American Heart Association. This is a fun and anticipated event in which students play basketball and learn about how to keep their hearts healthy while also fundraising for the association. This year, students were able to participate in three different contests: 3 on 3, foul-shooting, and 3-point shooting. The most competitive contest is the 3 on 3. This year’s winners for the boys was “The Hooppsters” which consisted of Carlos Pepin, Justin Arcos and Ahmad Odeh. For the girls, “Team Blackout” was the winner and this team consisted of Michelle Wilson, Shajida Tillet and Andrea Vasquez. Students were also entertained by the hosting of Mr. Maggio and his performance of the “YMCA” during what he called “half-time.” Hoops For Heart in LHS was not only fun and jam-packed but also inspirational and educational. Thank you to all who participated and donated!
