Yes, it’s about that time again. Love is fully in the air and couples are just about ready to rush on over to their dinner reservations with flower bouquets in hand. Valentine’s Day is upon us, but it’s not always easy for everyone this time of year, especially for those who don’t seem to have a date or someone special to share it with. However, just because you don’t have someone to go out with doesn’t mean Valentines Day needs to a downcast shadow upon the lovely day, when there are multiple ways to spend it by yourself and still feel satisfied.
So here are a few ways to pick yourself up during any holiday season, especially this one:
One, treat yourself! Do you have a favorite video game that you’ve been put off for a while? Play it. DO you have a favorite food from a restaurant you enjoy? Then order it. Do whatever it is that makes you happy. Just because you see other people happy doesn’t mean you have to deny yourself that same level of enjoyment, so go out there and do something for you!
Two, try something new, like baking or going on hikes. No one wants to go each and every day reliving the same routine, so try a new experience.
Three, if you still are feeling alone, try arranging something with friends or family members that are available to you. You don’t necessarily have to be alone during a holiday, so spend some time with people who make you feel happy.
There is already a thing amongst women called “Galentine’s Day,” where girls spend their Valentine’s Day with each other. It doesn’t even need to be bombastic like going on a boat or traveling around the city, it just needs to be something enjoyable with your loved ones.
Valentine’s Day is about being loved, not being in love. So whether you spend it alone or with people you care about, just remember that this is a day about love, and that includes loving yourself. So don’t stress over not getting a date in time or not having anything to do. Do something that you will love.
Have a Happy Valentine’s day,
From the Rampage.
