Sweet Summer Romcom
By Madison Vargas
I’ll love you until the sand is gone from my mom’s car,
Story continues below advertisement
And the smell of the ocean leaves my hair.
Like wet clothes hug my figure.
I’d capture the sun in your smile,
and you’ll find me a seashell.
I’d keep it as a good luck charm
and remember all the reasons you’re wonderful.
Pretend like you didn’t try to hold my hand.
Sink your toes in the mud.
When the land and sea kiss and fade your footprint trail,
Look me in the eyes and say
“I’ll never let you go.”
Almost like my summer tan, I know it’ll never last.
But I’m already lost in the way each consonant carries me.
