NHS Induction Ceremony

On March 23rd, Lodi High School hosted their annual National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. This event highlighted the importance of the 30 inductees and their achievements earning them a spot in this prestigious program. The NHS emphasizes the four pillars of character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Each of these inductees represents these pillars and embodies the best of the Lodi Community.

 

The event opened with Yulianna Walker warming up the crowd and welcoming the inductees into the ceremony. Eileen, then, presented the invocation which acknowledged the inductees peers, family, and faculty. Senior, Paola Kotori, followed with her presentation of the President’s Address as well as as powerful message about her own journey as the President of the NHS, highlighting the leadership she embodies through her participation in the Hackensack Medical Tobacco Research Team while supporting those who are working to quit smoking. Paola continued with her acknowledgement of the inductees as Maheen Mahdi and Yulianna Walker presented  the Spirit of Light.

 

As the event continued Sara Bendo presented the Guardian of Service and gave a speech about the role of a leader and how the inductees have upheld leadership. Paul Boyaci, Recording Secretary, presented the Guardian of Service and shared how the inductees performed acts of service for the Lodi community. Nicole Funez proceeded to present the Guardian of Scholarship and spoke to the audience about how each inductee has exhibited the qualities of an excellent scholar. Finally, Cassidy Capolete presented the Guardian of Character which touches upon the students’ commitment to school and sports and how they display being genuine people.


The candidates walked across the stage and Maryanna Danho gave a small speech about giving light to others while Mahdi and Walker lit the inductees candles one by one. Naomi Santiago lead the administration

of NHS Pledge, followed by Funez’s official announcement of  the new members.

 

The event closed with Mr. O’Brian and Mr. Tarleton’s congratulatory welcome to the new members of the NHS. Kotori called new member, Xavier Lewis, to share his gratitude for this honor on behalf of the newly inducted class. Mr. Tarleton ended the ceremony with his closing remarks.
