School Survival Guide: Freshman Year

Going into freshmen year is an intimidating, but exciting experience. There is a long list of new unwritten rules that one is expected to follow.  It can be difficult to avoid the embarrassing moments that come with being a freshman. YouTube videos and articles titled “How to Survive Freshman Year” always appear right before the school year starts. Advice from these videos and articles can be confusing and may have you feeling overwhelmed right now but…

Have no fear, the seniors are here! 

With our list of do’s and don’ts, hopefully, we can be helpful in providing tips for freshmen to help them get through their first year of high school!

Do:

  • Get involved!  Go to sports games and have school spirit!  This can be a great way to make new friends and Image result for cartoon gif schooldiscover new interests!         
  • Get enough sleep! School can be physically and emotionally draining. It is important to get enough sleep the night before school so you are ready for the day!
  • Keep yourself organized! Staying organized throughout the year will keep you prepared for school assignments and make you more responsible.

 

Don’t:

  •  Over-work yourself! Whether it’s the amount of  honors/ AP classes or clubs you join, it is important to Image result for cartoon gif schoolavoid stress as much as possible. Be sure to take classes you can handle and don’t overwhelm yourself!
  • Procrastinate! Although it’s hard to stay on top of your work, a lot of stress can be avoided by getting it done before the due date.
  • Stress it! There are going to be times when it feels like everything is coming at you all at once and like it’s impossible to try to get it all done. Remember: You can do it! Don’t give up, just take a deep breathe and tackle those assignments straight on!

Just remember to stay on task, take care of yourself, and keep a positive mind set. With these tips freshman year will be an easy and memorable experience!
