Robotics: The Future for LHS

The Lodi Rampage would like to introduce you to both of LHS’ rookie robotics clubs:

“The Robo-Rams” is just one of Lodi’s robotics clubs ran by Mr. Foster. Representing the team number 13615, Lodi is amongst the thousands of other schools competing in the First Tech Challenge. After weeks of preparation, building, and assistance from “The Pascack Pi-oneers Team 1676,” Lodi was ready to compete. Though the club’s first competition was not as successful as they hoped for, Lodi came out fighting early on at the Northern Blast FTC Qualifier on Jan. 20. Though the “Robo-Rams” did not place, it was a great effort by all members of the team. They will compete again on Feb. 11, so be sure to wish them luck!

The Lodi Rampage would like to welcome another Lodi first year robotics team ran by Mr. Skibitski, a first year teacher here at LHS. For over two months, the team was preparing for the Panasonic Creative Design Challenge (CDC) held at NJIT on Jan. 30. Following the guidelines for the competition, the team had to design their own original robot from scratch, which entailed a great deal of work, from coding to building circuits. After meeting for hours almost each day of the week, the team was ready for the competition. However, things didn’t go as planned and the robot did not accomplish certain tasks. Not to worry because Lodi will be ready for next year’s competition. For any underclassman interested, join next year! Not only will you receive helpful lessons on robotics but you may also have the opportunity to win $4000 in scholarship money.
