Sept. 13, 2014 – The 2013 season for the LHS Rams only included one loss on the year, bringing expectations for the 2014 season sky high. With that being said, the Rams handled the pressure well, beating the Hawthorne Bears 29-12 in the first game of the season.

The seniors were the talk of the game. Johnny Calabrese threw two touchdowns, including a shovel pass to running back Jesse Asare that went for an 87-yard touchdown. David Acevedo also added to the mix by scoring a big touchdown late in the third quarter. In an interview Calabrese was asked about getting the first win on the season: “It feels great to get that first win, and it helps going into next week knowing we’re 1-0.” When David Acevedo was asked about his big day through the air he said, “I felt pretty good about it. I could’ve done better, but not bad.”
Head coach Pat Tirico was interviewed as well and when he was questioned about the player of the game, he had a group of people in mind. “The offensive line played very well. Michael Wilson, Moe Zaal, Javi Bustos, Matt Leto, and Bryan Roth all did a great job giving our offense opportunities to score.”
With their first win of the season in the books, Lodi is set up for a big game next week where they will be facing a familiar foe: the Garfield Boilermakers. The lights will be shining for the Rams’ first road game this Friday night, Sept. 19, and the stakes are high.
